april fools
she had those eyebrows that didn't rise. those sly, knowing eyes and half-smile fixed to her lips, cut and paste from daytime tv. young and intelligent and entirely uncharitable, she radiated a quiet inner strength - resilience. she was pretty like you'd find in a hotel advertisement with the beautiful smile and expressionless eyes. she had run out of youth to fuel her dreams. her past was a polaroid, sucked clean of all its promise, faded and poignant; pretty to look at and pinned to her wall, ready to be forgotten - to be dismissed.
